Information Systems & Technology

The Information Systems (IS) area endeavors to prepare high-potential students of diverse backgrounds for successful careers in the IS profession. Careers in IS may include programming, systems analysis and design, database administration, end-user support, network administration, and management consulting. The goal is to provide students with the skills to deal with the challenges confronting IS through teaching, research, and service to the profession.

Business Administration

The Business Administration degree offers an option to earn a general business degree. This 120-credit-hour program requires that at least 48-credit hours be filled with business courses including accounting, information systems concepts, business analytics and statistics, supply chain management, finance, management, marketing and more. Once you’ve completed your required courses, you can customize your degree with business electives, even selecting a minor, if you choose.

Organizational Leadership

The BA in Organizational Leadership is an interdisciplinary online degree completion program that provides an accelerated pathway to graduation for those who have an Associate’s degree or have completed some college courses, but have yet to complete their degree. The degree is designed to provide adult students with the knowledge, skills and credentials necessary to advance in a rapidly changing workplace and may be completed entirely online.

Professional Writing

The Writing Certificate is open to all St. Louis campus undergraduate and graduate students, as well as to graduates of UMSL and other colleges and universities.

Students must complete the required courses (18 credit hours) with a grade point average of 3.0 or better. None of the courses may be taken on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis. Up to six credit hours of course work may be transferred from other four-year institutions.

Technical Writing

Students earn the Online Certificate in Technical Writing by completing 18 hours in selected online writing courses with a grade point average of 3.0 or better, including a capstone course. Twelve of the 18 hours must be taken at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Courses may not be taken on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis.
