Business Administration
Business principles apply to every sector of our economy and include all aspects of overseeing and managing business operations. Today’s modern business leaders must know how to effectively manage people, products, resources and financial assets to solve problems, innovate new solutions and grow companies. Throughout the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program, students will be taught core business functions and contemporary business administration frameworks needed to be successful in a variety of fields.

From marketing, media and public relations to corporate, healthcare and a host of other career settings, earning a communication degree can help prepare you to inform, influence and entertain audiences of all types through engaging and relevant content.
Through the Bachelor of Arts in Communication, students will be taught how to communicate effectively across a range of environments and platforms. Students can expect to learn how to create compelling communication strategies, improve message effectiveness, apply interpersonal skills and diverse perspectives to a variety of situations and adapt to a rapidly changing digital environment.

Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity affects everyone, including individuals, organizations, governments and society at large. Despite this, industry reports indicate a shortage of qualified professionals to fill cybersecurity-related roles. Demand for professionals who can help secure data, information technology assets and the nation’s critical infrastructure continues to grow. Those with training in modern cybersecurity techniques and methods are highly sought-after by employers across industries.

UMSL is also designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Information Systems & Technology
Information systems technologists think strategically about selecting, deploying and using computer-based information systems for organizational efficiency and competitive advantage. This involves aspects of business analysis, information theory, hardware and software systems, databases and systems design.
Throughout the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems & Technology, students will be taught the functional areas of business and computing technologies and will gain technical skills in programming, database management, systems analysis and systems design. Students can also enhance their experience by joining UMSL’s Information Technology and Cybersecurity Club (ITCC), which engages students in national competitions, hosts cyber clinics as well as guest presentations.
Organizational Leadership
Graduates of an organizational leadership program can be prepared to articulate a personal leadership style; demonstrate an understanding of organizational leadership theory as it relates to individuals, communities and wider societies; communicate effectively; demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving abilities; use tools to manage systems and organizational resources; demonstrate an understanding of the ethical principles underlying effective organizational leadership; and lead teams in the development of innovative solutions to organizational challenges and opportunities.

Information Systems & Technology
The Master of Science in Information Systems and Technology (MSIST) program is designed to provide the technical and managerial knowledge to work successfully in careers associated with the design, development and management of information systems. The MSIST is a 30-credit-hour STEM designated degree where students gain advanced knowledge and skills in application development, business intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing and other emerging areas that impact organizational information systems strategies.
Upon completion of the program, graduates can expect to be able to evaluate and implement effective information systems leadership principles and strategy, support and improve current best practices in application development, business intelligence, cybersecurity and legacy systems and exhibit specialized leadership and technical expertise.

Financial Technology (Fintech)
Fintech, a broad term for technology that automates, improves and structurally shifts financial services, aims to outperform traditional financial methods to deliver financial services faster, cheaper and with greater security.
The Master of Science in Financial Technology (Fintech) is built around these changes, providing you with a fintech master’s degree that covers not only traditional finance modules and data-driven financial modeling and analytics, but also tools such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, mobile payment systems, robo-advising and more.
Online MBA
The online Master of Business Administration program is an accelerated MBA program for those who already have some work experience and want to enhance their career opportunities.
Upon completion of the program, graduates will be taught how to apply what they’ve learned to real-world business situations. They will have also learned how to maintain awareness of legal and compliance issues, critically evaluate emerging markets and technologies, and understand complex business financial affairs. Professional Writing Certificate
Students earn the online Certificate in Professional Writing by completing 18 hours in selected writing courses with a grade point average of 3.0 or better.
Upon completion of the program, certificate earners can expect to be able to do the following: Write clearly, correctly and concisely; develop knowledge of how writing impacts work and behavior in professional settings; employ a repertoire of writing strategies and practices in the workplace; adapt to new writing challenges quickly; discern the appropriate tone, style, and format needed for a given writing purpose, audience and context; demonstrate advanced knowledge of rhetorical strategies to achieve specific results; and develop a portfolio of professional writing that would serve in a job search.
MBA/Cybersecurity
In the highly competitive world of business, having the right skills can make all the difference. Designed with the working professional in mind, the Master of Business Administration with a Cybersecurity emphasis combines a foundation of core business topics with technical and database security knowledge to meet students’ unique needs.
Students seeking an emphasis in Cybersecurity must complete a minimum of three approved cybersecurity elective courses (a maximum of five is allowed). Only courses that are substantially different from courses taken for credit in a student’s undergraduate program will be acceptable. Available electives include Management of Information Security, Advanced Cybersecurity Concepts, Software Assurance, Applied Cryptography for Business Applications, and more.
